On December 10, 2001, two Moose Boats fire boats hit the water to respond to the Hinckley Yacht location in Portsmouth, RI. 70 firefighters from Portsmouth, Bristol, Middletown, Newport, Jamestown, Warren, Tiverton and North Kingstown raced to fight the blaze that destroyed 2 yachts and damaged the 200 ton lift. The fire was accidentally started by workers while repairing the 100 feet long, 3 stories high superyacht. The fire spread to a second large sailing vessel.

The North Kingstown Fire Department was tasked with using their M2 fire boat to provide a flowing curtain of water that protected nearby structures. Marine 6, the Moose Boats M2 fire boat from the Newport Rhode Island fire department, was tasked with “direct attack” on the fire.
